Accorhotels signed eight new hotels across Northern Europe in the first quarter of 2019, five in the UK, two in Denmark and one in Belgium.
The new deals will expand Accor's portfolio across the region by more than 1,000 rooms. In addition to the 1,000 new rooms that opened in 2019 in seven hotels in Accor's Northern Europe network.
The five new signings in the UK include three Mercure and two Ibis hotels. The Mercure St Helen's is an 84-room hotel that is a franchisee and is currently undergoing a complete refurbishment. In the summer it will be added to the network by a franchise partner with several hotels.
In addition, the Mercure Preston Samlesbury is an 80-bedroom franchise that is being renamed Mercure, and the Mercure Newport is a new 163-room hotel that transforms the New York Chartist Tower from an office building into a hotel.
The two new Ibis new customers are the Ibis London Worcester Park, a new 132-bedroom franchise that will open in 2020, and the ibis Folkestone Channel Tunnel, a new 131-room hotel opened in 2021. Channel Tunnel ,
A further 11 properties have already committed to opening up the Northern Europe network for the remainder of 2019, nine of them in the UK. These include the first UK hotels Tribe and Mama Shelter, two "major" new openings from Accor's growing lifestyle portfolio.
