How to Report Fraud on TripAdvisor


We know that blackmail is a problem for hoteliers, and occasionally we hear stories about it. It usually goes something like this: A guest says, "I will give you a bad rating on TripAdvisor, unless you give me a spare room." What should hoteliers do in rare cases when blackmail occurs?

TripAdvisor has a procedure for reporting a possible blackmail before the rating is given.

First, instruct all employees to immediately share any blackmail threats with guests.

If you suspect a suspicion of blackmail, send a report on blackmail as soon as possible.

  1. Go to the TripAdvisor homepage.
  2. Press the Your business Link top right on your screen.

This reporting works only for ratings that have not yet been submitted. If a post has already been published that you think is extortionate or otherwise fraudulent, you should report it. TripAdvisor will remove the rating if it can confirm that it violates it Check guidelines,

Report a report that you believe is related to the blackmail, suspect that your listing page has been posted incorrectly, or that it does not meet the TripAdvisor rating guidelines:
